Henry Grandison, 79, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on August 3rd, 2023, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born in Waterproof, Louisiana on August 29, 1943, to Robert Grandison and Lois Humphrey.
Sometime after he made a move to Kansas City, Missouri, where he resided. On November 26, 1977, he married Bertha Mae. Henry later opened his first place of business in 1978 on 7248 Prospect Ave., but he didn't stop there. He had several locations, however, he settled down at 5408 Blue Pkwy, where it remains open today, ran by his son, O'Brient.
Henry became a member of Greater Love Church of God in Christ in the mid 80's and took the role of Deacon. He later moved on and made Jesus Is The Way his Church Home as Deacon and Treasurer.
Henry was a man who worked with his hands; who could fix a car by the sound of its engine. His first time driving a car, he just had to see how fast it could go. (He was a race car driver at heart).
Born in Waterproof, Louisiana raised in Robbins, Illinois, he would often travel back there with his wife and children to see his mother, Madear. He did not trust airplanes. He only flown only twice but would be ready to get in a car and drive ANYWHERE! In his spare time, he enjoyed his CB radio, but the neighbors DID NOT! His "handle" was "Louisiana Bo-Skin," then he changed it to "Chestizer" because the CB'ers could not out talk him!
Henry was a pillar in his community, known for fixing cars for a little of nothing, and for some, practically free. He was a bit of a firecracker, but he loved people, and he loved God. "Our Father God Got My Back" is what he often said. He will be remembered as a loving, generous and tell it like it is kind of man who loved his family.
Henry is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Humphrey; father, Robert Grandison; sisters, Emma Grandison, Lizzie White; and his brothers, Robert Grandison Jr., Lionel Grandison, and Richard Grandison
