Henry Baylis Jr.

Henry J. Baylis Jr., 62, passed away on May 9th in Kansas City, MO.  He was born on July 6, 1959 in Kansas City to the union of Henry Baylis Sr. and Charlene Baylis.  He grew up in Kansas City, MO where he attended Southeast High School.

He accepted Christ as an early age and was a long time member of Community Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Clifford Wayne Bell.  He joined the U.S. Army in November of 1977 to 1978 and the National Guard from 2003-2004.

He began work for Guy's Potato Chips as a Machine Operator where he worked for 2 years.  He also worked at Big T's Barbeque on and off at the Blue Parkway and 93rd Bannister.  He was Lead Bass Guitarist of the Black Maria Band.  He married Shelia Mitchell on January 2, 1986 in Kansas City, MO.  They were happily married for 33 years.

He was proceeded into death by his parents, Henry Baylis Sr. and Charlene Baylis, wife, Shelia E. Baylis, son, Robert Antwan Baylis, sister, Carmen L. Winters, brothers, Darrell B. Baylis Sr. and Donald Lee Baylis Sr., nephews, Donald B. Baylis and Aaron L. Baylis, great nephew Antonio Winters, great niece Lanaye Baylis, and special auntie, Conella-Coulter-Brown.

He is survived by son, Henry Baylis III (Shannon), 5 grandchildren, Amani, Henry IV, Shai'enne, Willow, 3 sisters, JoAnn Beaver, Renee' Bennett (Clarence), and Yvette Baylis-Leap, uncle Robert Lee Boyles Sr., 4 sister-in-laws, Patricia Mitchell, Sherry Mitchell, Meredith Baylis, and Gertrude Baylis and special cousin, Bishop Saundra McFadden-Weaver, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, other family and best friends, Timothy Jones and Floyd Dupree.
