Herbert Lewis

Herbert Lewis was born April 14, 1944, the son of the late Rev. Melvin Lewis and Bessie (Dansby) Lewis. In Eagletown, Okla. He was their first born child. His family moved to the Kansas City area when he was nine years old. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Melvin and Bessie Lewis, Brother Charles Lewis, Son; Arlester Scott Jr. and Sister-In- laws; Brenda Lewis and Charlene Lewis He confessed his faith and was Baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church where his father was assistant Minister. Herbert sung in the Male Choir and participated in Church activities. Herbert attended Wendell Phillips Elementary school and Lincoln Jr and Lincoln High School in Kansas City, Mo. In 1965 he was drafted into the Armed forces of the USA, where he served until his discharge in 1967. Herbert was a people person, he enjoyed his family, his friends and music. After he married his wife (Georgianna) his children, grandchildren and his great-grandchildren were the center of his life. Herbert was employed by Ford Motor Co., until he retired in 2006 after 36 years. He leaves to cherish his memories, his lovely Wife of 47 years Georgianna (Abrought) Lewis; his Son: Herbert Lewis Jr (Vanessa), his Daughters: Carmalita Scott and Frances Edwards, Granddaughters: Tia Strickland, Ciara Woods, Shajuan Alexander(Kelvin), Briana Shelton, Raven Laberrie, Grandsons: Herbert Lewis, Nathan Scott, Jalen Lewis, Devon Laberrie and Micheal Levels, Seven Great-Grandchildren, brothers: Willie Lewis, Lawrence Lewis (Jennifer), Sisters: Melva Lewis (Harold), Marilyn Lewis, Charlotte Lewis (LeAndrew), a host of Very Special nieces and nephews, Very special Sister-In- Laws and brother-in laws and Special family friends and his Tuesday morning Breakfast friends.
