Herman Norton, Sr.

Herman Norton, Sr., 86, passed away on April 27, 2023 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Herman Norton, Sr., was born on March 1, 1937 in Haynesville, LA to the late Perry Norton and Gussie Webb. Herman was the last child of his parents 4 children. His siblings, Melvin Jack Norton, Geraldine Norton, and Ruth Norton all preceded him in death.

Herman was educated in the Catholic school system until high school when he attended R. T. Coles in the Kansas City Mo School District.

On December 9, 1961 Herman was united in holy matrimony to Lucy Mae Jamison. From that union they had 4 children, Their last child, Andre T. Norton, preceded them in death.

Herman was employed by 7-Up Bottling Company for 21 years until they closed. He went on to work for the Kansas City Mo School District until he retired.

Herman began his Christian journey many years ago, and 4 years ago he rededicated his life to Christ under the leadership of Dr. Billy W. Birmingham.

Our awesome and amazing father, whose entire life was devoted to his wife and family, enjoyed spending quality time with and entertaining his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as his friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories his son, Herman Norton, Jr. (Dedria); 2 daughters, Gwendolyn Pearson, and Valencia Norton; 8 grandchildren, Henry (Kellie), Atoyia, Marvin (Adrienne), Kierra, Brittney, Shamika (Abdul), Brionna, and Sirr Chase; 16 great-grandchildren (3 of which preceded him in death: Gabriel, Mali, and Beau); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; cousins; and a special childhood friend, Allan (Kathy) Hudson; and other friends.
