Hester Lee Mayfield-Major was born November 22, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois to TJ Mayfield and Luvina (Robinson) Mayfield.

Hester Lee Mayfield-Major grew up in Chicago, Illinois until 1979, when she moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Hester Lee Mayfield-Major attended Lucy Flowers High School. After high school she began working as a CNA until she moved to Kansas City, Missouri.

Hester Lee Mayfield-Major attended Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, Missouri. She studied in the Registered Nurse Program.

Hester Lee Mayfield-Major worked at many places in the nursing field. Hester Lee Mayfield-Major worked for Swope Parkway Comprehensive as a driver for several years before retiring in 2011.

Hester Lee Mayfield-Major was a devoted woman of God as a member of Christ Is The Answer Deliverance Center over 20 years, she was an Evangelist in Prison Ministry for years.

Hester Lee Mayfield-Major married Gerald Major on June 4, 2012, in Kansas City, Missouri. They were happily married until his death on March 23, 2024.

Hester Lee Mayfield-Major was preceded into death by her parents TJ & Luvina; her sisters, Gloria and Betty, and two brothers, TJ & Timothy.

Hester Lee Mayfield-Major is survived by: her two children, Olivia Turner and Antwon Smith Sr.; eight grandchildren: Tierra Arnold, Derrisha George, Delwayne Edwards, Jr., Antwon Smith Jr., Asher Smith, Ashlynn Smith, Ashton Smith, and Ava Smith; three great grandchildren: Tiana, Taylor, and Tatianna: sisters: Annie Hankins, Lula Martin, Mary King (Terry), Patricia Atkins (Frank), and Sabrina Mcwaine (Darryl): brothers Marvin Mayfield (Patricia) and William Mayfield; best friend, Gwendolyn Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family and friends.
