Horace Kelly, Jr., 67, passed away on August 15, 2021, at home. He was born in Ferriday, Louisiana, to Horace Kelly, Sr. and Joyce M. Kelly.
He graduated from Ferriday High School in 1972. After high school, he moved to Kansas City, where he made home until his passing. He worked in construction for forty years until he retired from Comanche Construction on June 14, 2014.
Horace married Candance Madden of Kansas City, Missouri. They spent 30 years together. His smile and personality would light up a room. He loved working with his hands and loved helping anyone he could. His favorite past times were fishing, hunting, listening to music, playing dominos, and sitting on his deck. He was a dear friend to many, loved by all who knew him, and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Horace was preceded in death by his parents Horace & Joyce Kelly; maternal grandparents, Jimmie & Edith Williams; paternal grandparents; brother, Greg Kelly.
Horace is survived by his dedicated wife: Candance Kelly; children: Byron Lloyd, Kamisha Kelly, HoraceKelly, Sr. (Keithan), and Reuel Midgyett; brother: Sylvester Kelly; grandchildren: Tatyanna Lloyd, HoraceKelly, Jr., Demetrius Lloyd, Kelyn Kelly, Dominique Lloyd, and Kayah Hardy; special brother: Daryl Zanders (Terrie); godsons: Darrell Zanders and Damond Taft; special niece: Kimberly McGinnis, a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
The family of Horace Kelly, Jr. would like to thank you very much for the cards, flowers, and kind expressions of sympathy shown following his passing. Your support at this difficult time was very much appreciated and of great comfort to all of the family.
