Irene Yvette Carter was born October 30, 1942, to Heber and Mary Viola Ford, in Keytesville, Missouri. She was one of ten children. Her father, mother, husband Michael Carter, five sisters and three brothers all preceded her in death.

Irene accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at St. James A.M.E Church, in Keytesville, Missouri.

She graduated in 1960 from Keytesville High School in Keytesville, Missouri. After graduation she moved to Kansas City, Missouri and joined Bowers Memorial C.M.E. Church, where she served faithfully as a Stewardess.

On September 25, 1962, Irene was first united in Holy Matrimony to George William Murray. To their union one son was born Dale Maurice. On December 31, 1966, Irene was united in Holy Matrimony to Michael Carter. To their union one daughter was born Michelle Renee.

She worked for Western Electric, Sears and Woodtone Sign Works for many years, and throughout the years she assisted in taking care of her mother until her death in 1998.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Dale Maurice Murray and Michelle Renee Carter, one granddaughter, Brianna and two grandsons Willis and Brandon and nine great grandchildren, one sister Evelyn Joyce Hightower (Ted), and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
