Ivan was born in Kansas City, Kansas on February 2, 1964, to the parents of Ray L. and Anna M. Tyson. His father, Ray L. Tyson, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Charles W., and Clara M. Lunn-Lewis; paternal grandparents, Franklin and Jodie Tyson; infant daughter, LaJoyce Genell Tyson; infant granddaughter, Kimmani Rose Milligan, preceded him in death.
Ivan attended St. Peter’s Catholic grade school. He attended Bishop Hogan High School and later transferred to Raytown South High School where he graduated in 1982. Ivan enlisted in the United States Navy. His assignment was Dispersing/Payroll Clerk on the USS Anchorage.
Ivan accepted Christ as a young child and was baptized at Second Baptist Church, Argentine, Kansas, under the pastorate of, Rev. Roy A. Reed. He began his work in Christ’s Kingdom in all church auxiliary. He remained a faithful worker for many years. In later years Ivan joined Concord Fortress of Hope Church under the leadership of, Senior Pastor Ronald R. Lindsey. Ivan kept Christ foremost in his life.
Ivan was a warehouse supervisor, Goodall Rubber Company, Challenge Manufacturing as an ABB-Robot Technician, Burd & Fletcher Printing Company as a Press Operator, and the City of Kansas City Missouri as a Mechanic, until his death.
Ivan was a devoted son, husband, and father. His home was always a gathering place for family and friends. He has been an inspiration to all those who have come in contact with him. His kind spirit and loving ways have blessed our lives and touched our hearts. His passions included grilling, working on cars, sports, travel, movies, bowling, and swimming.
Ivan was formerly married to Connie J. Tyson and from this union were born Krystal M. Tyson, Ivan R. Tyson, Jr., and Cecelia J. Bell. He later married Dayna G. Cummings and from this union were born, infant, LaJoyce Genell Tyson and a blended family of four: Marc Cummings, LaShon Jones, Antwon Jones, and Riche’ Jones.
When he departed this life on, September 19, 2021, he left many hearts to mourn and to cherish his memory. He is survived by his mother, Anna M. Tyson, Kansas City, Mo; his wife, Dayna G. Tyson of the home; daughters, Krystal M. Tyson, Cecelia J. Bell, LaShon Jones, and Riche’ Jones; sons, Ivan R. Tyson, Jr., Marc Cummings, Antwon Jones, Kansas City, Mo; sister, Toni L. Tyson, Wichita, Ks; brothers, Ray L. Tyson, Jr., Houston, Tx; Michael Ray Storey, Vivian, La, Ivory Jackson, Shreveport, La.; 14 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
