Jackie Wayne Hood, born December 10, 1967, in Kansas City, Missouri, was the beloved son of Joe Louis Hood, Sr., and Helen M. Hood. Raised in Kansas City, Jackie attended Paseo High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a passion for life.
After high school, Jackie began his career as a baker at Pumpernick’s Restaurant & Deli in Leawood, KS. He went on to work for Keystone Automotive as an assistant manager for 14 years, then joined Knit Rite as a machine operator. At the time of his passing, Jackie was working as an Aerospace Assembly Technician at Ultra Tech, where he was known for his dedication and skill.
Jackie was baptized at St. John Missionary Baptist Church by F.W. Haynes and deeply rooted in his faith. He was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a junior usher and sang in the Inspirational Choir. He enjoyed basketball, football, and cars, finding joy in the things he loved most.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Louis Hood, Sr.; his brother, Joe Louis Hood, Jr.; and his infant daughter, Ja’cklia Hood.
Jackie’s memory lives on through his mother, Helen M. Hood; his children, Eric White, Jaxeiria Hood, and Jade Hood; his brothers, James Hood, Jerry Hood, Sr; his sisters, Joy Hood, Janice Clark (Albert), Julia Hood-Williams (Jerome), and Janeane Lyman (Lewis); his sister and niece, Araina Hood-Martin (Herb); and his cherished grandchildren, Jai’Xyn, M’Kyla, Liyah, Emre, and Kolby. He also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Jackie will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, and friend. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
