Jacqueline (Jackie) Rose Edmondson was a woman of spirit, personality, and heart. She had a feisty nature, a love for laughter, and a presence that brought light into the lives of those around her.
She was born on October 28, 1946, in Austin, Texas, and later moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she spent much of her life. She was a proud graduate of Central High School.
Jackie was a woman of faith and a lover of God. Though she did not work outside the home, her life was filled with laughter, love, and connection. Her strength, her spirit, and her presence left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
She spent many years at the Village at Carrol Park, where she formed meaningful friendships and became part of a community that knew her, cared for her, and shared life with her. Although she resided there, she remained deeply connected to her family, and her daughter and nephew were active and present in her life.
She had a special way of connecting with others and finding joy in simple moments. She enjoyed participating in activities, especially Spin the Wheel, which brought her joy and added to the moments she shared with those around her.
She had a deep love for church and was always eager to attend whenever the opportunity was offered. Whenever church services were held at Carroll Park, she would always say yes when staff asked who wanted to go, a reflection of the quiet strength of her faith and the peace it brought her.
Above all, she loved her daughter, her nephew, and her friends dearly. She also had a fondness for purses, something that reflected her personality, her style, and the little things that made her smile.
She was lovingly known as “Sweet Pea,” a name given to her by her daughter, one she cherished deeply. In return, she would lovingly call her daughter “Sweet Pea” as well, a simple but beautiful reflection of the bond they shared.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mildred Louise Versea, her sister Charlesetta Cobbs, and her aunt Rosa Lee Favors
On March 23, 2026 she was called home
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her beloved daughter, Lashunda Renee Edmondson; and nephew Joe Lee Cobbs Jr., along with a host of extended family, friends, and all who were touched by her life.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, her love, her spirit, and the memories she leaves behind will remain with us always.
