Life Reflections

Jacqueline Lorraine Irons was the youngest child born March 22, 1965, to John and Ossie Irons. She passed away peacefully in her home on November 18, 2023, in Los Angeles, CA with the love of her family surrounding her. Jacqueline was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, family member, friend, and respected teacher. She was a devout Christian. She grew up in Kansas City, KS. Jacqueline attended Our Savior Lutheran in Kansas City, KS from Kindergarten to Eighth grade. She graduated from Lutheran High School Kansas City, MO in 1983. Jacqueline was an honor roll student and voted Senior class Vice President. She participated in basketball, softball, track, cheerleading, and volleyball. She also participated in Choir, Letterman’s, Drama & German Club. Jacqueline was named Best Comedian during her senior year. After high school she attended Christ College Irvine in Irvine, CA where she received a bachelor’s degree in English. She studied pre-law at Concordia College in Concordia, CA and later received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1997 from Saint Mary’s college in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Jacqueline began working as a substitute teacher for Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO school districts. During this time, she was a full-time student, and she took on the role as caregiver for two of her nieces Felishea & Monique. She often substituted at the same high school they attended. She raised them in her care until they graduated and played a vital role in their upbringing.

She later moved to Los Angeles, CA to be closer to her older sister Rosalind where she continued her passion in teaching at Peary Middle School-Los Angeles Unified School District. She retired from LAUSD after 22 years of committed service.

Jacqueline was a travel enthusiast. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. Her most valued travel was to her annual family reunion. She traveled often with her siblings or back home to Kansas City to visit them. She ensured that her nephews and nieces were educated in world travel. On their 25th birthday, she took each of them to the country of their wishes. In her 58 years she’s traveled to several international destinations such as China, Japan, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Australia, Mexico, Jamaica, Buenos Aires, Aruba, Canada, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Grand Turk, Alaska, Panama, Italy, Peru, Petra, Spain, Brazil, Costa Rica, Curacao,  Cuba, Germany and more. Jacqueline was Trilingual. She spoke English, Spanish and German fluently.

A life well lived and well-traveled.

Jacqueline was loyal and honest, qualities that ensured enduring friendships.

She was preceded into death by her parents John & Ossie Irons; her brother Carl Irons; her uncle Theodore Jones Jr; her aunt Mary James; and her nephew Ke’Juan Mays.

She is survived by her brothers, Larry(Shirley) Cruitt, and John (Myrna) Irons; her sisters, Benice (Ray) Meeks, Phyllis Taylor, and Rosalind Irons-Harris; her uncles Kenneth James and Walter Jones; her aunt Rosie(Lavell) Dew; her nephews, Kamal Rhodes, Orlando Irons, Jawanza Harris, Carl Cummings, Ajene Harris, and Jelani Harris; her nieces, Felishea(Alonso) Bradway, Monique Scaife, Aviance Woods, Tirra Maggit, and Gabrielle Meeks; three great aunts, sixteen great nephews and nieces, one great-great nephew, two godchildren, ShaLynn Cotton, and Jalan Crayton, and a host of other relatives and friends.
