Jalen Semaj Gilliam was a son, father, brother, uncle, and friend, affectionately known as "Jalo", was born on December 3, 2005, to James and Chrishawn Gilliam. Jalen's life suddenly ended February 28, 2026.
Jalen was preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, Melvin Price Sr. and Eugene Andrews; his grandmothers, Della Mae Price and Lavelle Curd; paternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Buster Reed; an uncle, Melvin Price Jr.; cousins: Tremel Gilliam Jr. and Derron Hayden, and close friend, Rickey Monroe.
Jalen worked at Wonder Bread for two years and also worked as a security guard, calling himself, "Top Flight security of the world".
Jalen was an all-American sports guy who started playing sports (baseball, basketball, and football) at five years old and even coached his team a time or two.
Jalen graduated from Center High School, where he starting making short films.
Jalen had the opportunity to drive fast cars at an early age with his extended family, which of course had him involved in driving fast, supping up his car with loud noise, and installing stars for the interior. The love for cars led him into fashion. Jalen would model clothes, travel, and was inspired to start his own fashion line. His fashion was all his own. Jalen was into music, promoting rappers, and busting a rhyme in the studio. Jalen was also involved with helping youth, with his ultimate goal of being in the real estate industry.
Jalen's world was starting to complete when his sole purpose, Nalai G. Gilliam was born. Nalai will miss the smile that would brighten anyone's day as he enters the room. His smile was contagious. I am not sure what this should be. Change is not referring to Nalai.
Jalen leaves to cherish his parents, James and Chrishawn Gilliam; his daughter, Nalai G. Gilliam; two sisters: Kiera Gilliam and Cierra Price; four brothers: James Gilliam Jr., Tremel Gilliam, Darrell Paul and Dontae' Paul; his grandmother, Mary Andrews; godmothers Christina Jones and Tyrane Gunnels; his special lady, Amariya Griffin, and a host of nieces, uncles, cousins, and friends.
