Listen to Obituary

James Byers, 35, passed away on July 23, 2022, at home in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born on Saturday, May 30, 1987, in Kansas City Missouri at Truman Hospital to Darcel Douglas and Michelle Byers. He received his GED from Kansas City Missouri school district. James enjoyed spending time with his family, making music, writing, and encouraging those he encountered.  As a child James was very active always flipping or playing some kind of sport. Growing up James was a momma’s boy! Growing up being the baby of 7 he looked up to his older siblings thinking the world of them.

James Byers was a great loving father of two boys, Jaebrion and James Jr. who were his pride and joy. He displayed love to them every day, through conversation, building them stuff, playing the game with them, simply sitting and bonding or even through disciplining them. He had high hopes for his sons and wanted them to be the best young men they can be.

As James got older, he fell in love with the art of cooking and had his own personal unique style. James enjoyed watching New Life Worship Center every Sunday morning where he grew up as a child where his uncle, Bishop Clyde Irvin, is pastor. He had a deep love for God and his family. He was always optimistic believing everything was going to be better! He loved bonding with his family no matter what the occasion was. James was his own musical icon creating all types of genres of music, rap, hip hop, R&B, and even gospel. He was always writing lyrics; that was his therapy!

James married the love of his life his queen, Latasha Byers on May 25, 2012, in Kansas City Mo. They were happily married for 10 years.  They enjoyed spending quality time together in the peace of their own home. They enjoyed their once-a-week meal together, spaghetti, that James always cooked. James wrote several love songs to the love of his life believing he was her favorite artist! Their special song was “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheridan. James and Latasha later moved to Phoenix, Arizona where they resided until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Michelle C Byers; maternal great-grandparents, Monroe, and Rose L Irvin; paternal grandparents, Andrew, and Ella Douglas; cousin, Darrick Irvin; maternal great-aunt, Rose M. Irvin; and maternal great-uncle, Lawrence Irvin.
