James Allen Harris, 73, transitioned to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City Missouri, He was born on December 6, 1946 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Walter Harris, and Florence (Anderson) Harris
James grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and graduated J.P. McCaskey High School. After high school, he joined the Army in 1967 and served for five years. During this time he was the recipient of the Military Service National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He began working for the Department of VA as a Supervisor.
James was a faithful member of Calvary Chapel Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Harold Molden. He had a strong relationship with God and his faith was never wavered. He didn't worry about anything because he knew that God had everything in control in any situation.
James worked part time at Risener Lawn Care, and Shamrock Golf Course. James had many hobbies. He loved traveling, but his most favorite hobby was to golf. If he wasn't at church or at home, he was at the golf course with his friends. On July 5, 2019 he married Barbara Gant in Kansas City. Missouri. James and Barbara were truly in love. They went every where together. There were never apart from each other. He treated her like a queen, and would do anything to make sure she would be happy, They remained married until he transitioned to his heavenly home.
He is preceded into death by his parents; Walter and Florence Harris; previous wife; Deniese Harris, and his brother; Marvin Harris.
He leaves to cherish his long time memories his wife; Barbara Harris; his children; Derek L. Harris (Zalika), and Antoya L. Harris; his sisters, Mary Harris, Bertha Harris (Bond), and Janet Harris (Galloway); his grandchildren, Dereck II, Winston, Joshua, Rondale, and Syndee; his bonus children Yvette, Deana, James, Calvin, Carlton, Natasha, Jamesetta, Sheltta, Sabrina, and Rosalyn, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
