James L Edwards

James L. Edwards, Jr., of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, July 1st, 2018.

James was welcomed into the world, on June 18th, 1943. He was born to loving parents, James and Mary Edwards. James graduated from Manuel High School and worked for General Motors for 31 years. After retirement, he became a committed school bus driver for special needs students in Shawnee Mission ISD. He married his high school sweetheart, Thelma Edwards, in 1961. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage.

James was a beloved member of his church community and a member of the Knights of Peter Claver, Oscar L. Williams Council #265. James took great pride in his home and family. He was often seen taking meticulous care of his lawn and working on home improvement projects.

James also loved to bowl with his friends and former co-workers. He belonged to the UAW Retiree's team "Let's do it"!

James is survived by his wife, Thelma Edwards of Olathe, KS; three children: James Edwards III of Kansas City, MO; Terry Edwards of San Francisco, CA; and Tracy Edwards and his wife Sherizanne of Fort Worth, TX. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Tracy Edwards II and Myles Edwards of Fr. Worth, TX. James is also survived by his mother Mary Edwards and his sister, Evelyn Hill and her husband, Clifford Hill and also a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
