Janet Phillips-Anderson

Janet Marie Phillips-Anderson was born to the union of James and Maxine Phillips on October 28, 1973. Janet went into the light, joined side-by-side and hand-in-hand with her baby boy, Lawrence, on August 21, 2025. Awaiting their arrival into the ancestral plane were her parents: James and Maxine Phillips; bonus mother, Nola Phillips; brothers: James Kelton and Kevin Phillips; and sister, Tricia Phillips, along with other relatives and ancestors.

Janet was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and she was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District and Job Corps.

Janet was a woman who was full of love and had a kind and generous heart. She had a passion for helping those in need, and if needed, she would give the shirt off her back and the shoes off her feet. Janet loved to ball on a budget by hitting the clearance and sales racks and by doing what she loved and called “thrift-noodling.”

Janet married her teenage sweetheart, Larry, and together they welcomed four beautiful children. With their kids in tow, they traveled the states, living in Missouri, Texas, Arizona, and back again. Besides her children, Janet cherished her family and doted on her four grandchildren, who were her world.

Cementing Janet’s legacy, allowing her spirit to live on, she leaves behind her loving husband of 24 years, Larry Anderson; children: one daughter, Lauren Anderson, and two remaining sons, T’Mel and Xavier Anderson; grandchildren: T’Liyah, Royalty, T’Mel Jr., and Tu’Nye Anderson; sisters: Carla Hunt, Dana Hunt, Cynthia Phillips, Jamie Richardson, Carolyn Addison, Robin Wright, and Ebony Brown; brothers: Gary and Gregory Phillips; bonus mom, Terry Anderson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
