Janice Weatherspoon Jones was born in Augusta Arkansas to Ilee and Ruthie Mae Weatherspoon on April 7, 1948. Both parents, two brothers (Kenneth and Ilee Weatherspoon) and two sisters (Vivian D McCay and Teresa Witt) preceded her into death. In earlier years she attended Kansas City Public Schools WW. Yates Elementary, Woodland Elementary, Graceland Elementary, and graduated from Paseo High School on June 10, 1966.
Janice accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. William Wilson at Skylight Baptist Church. In 1960 she and her family joined Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church where Walter J. Witherspoon was pastor. She had a wonderful singing voice and was a member of several choirs. Janice was a member of Good Samaritan until her passing.
Janice and Bobby met in high school, fell in love, and married on July 1, 1967. After her new husband completed basic training in the Airforce, she joined him in San Antonio, Texas where they began their new life together. Janice and Bobby were married for 56 years. To this union two sons were born.
Janice was a beautiful person inside and out. She was also very talented and creative. She was known for making her amazing porcelain dolls and doll houses. She also loved to interior decorate and style hair.
Janice worked for the IRS for 27 years as a clerk. She retired in 2004. After retirement she spent her time on her hobbies and being with her family.
Janice is survived by her husband Bobby G Jones, son Robert G Jones (Tina), son Bryan K Jones (Theresa), granddaughters Alexus, Brittany, Alexius, Lauren, grandsons Logan and Adrian, and great granddaughter Devree. She is also survived by her siblings: Zelma Watkins, Carolyn Pierce (Mark), Larry Weatherspoon, Dwight Weatherspoon (Denise), Anthony Weatherspoon (Peggy), Joseph Weatherspoon, Sister in-law Eula Ellis, brother in-law Artis Jones (Mary), Alfonso Jones (Louise), Jason Jones (Lucille) Chris Spencer, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Janice departed this life on October 30, 2023, at Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
