Janna Smith

Janna Ruth Smith went home to Jesus on January 11, 2021. She passed in her sleep of natural causes. She was 52.

Janna was born to Gwendolyn R. Smith and John E. Watson on December 12, 1968 in Kansas City, KS.

She graduated from F.L. Schlagle High School in Kansas City, Ks in 1987. Janna achieved the great accomplishment of earning two Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Accounting from AIU in Illinois.

She was well known as Mama J and most recently Nani (to her grandchildren). Janna was best known for being a dedicated and loving mother, as well as a devoted and faithful servant to the Lord. In addition, she also loved writing poetry, reading, and singing. Throughout her adult life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She remained prayerful and full of grace.

Janna joins her mother, Gwendolyn and grandmother, Odessa Tate in Heaven. She is survived by her daughter, JaNay Adgers (Chantel Henderson); her son Antonio Adgers (Dianna); her grandchildren, Matthew, Maliya, Mila, Alanze, and Khalil; her father, John E. Waston, Sr. (Vera); three brothers, John E Watson Jr.; Christopher D Watson Sr. (Tina) and Jason L. Williams; two sisters, Christine D Watson and Yolanda Piper-Scott, as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of family members.

Our comfort at this time is that we know she is no longer in pain and can finally be reunited with her mother and grandmother, whom she missed dearly. We honor her by continuing to love and support one another as she has always done.

2 Thess 2:13-14 “But we should always thank God for you, brothers who are loved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning to be saved by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth. To this He called you through our gospel, so that you may share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
