"In Loving Memory"

Jared Isaac Elix was born on June 8, 1978, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born the third child and only son of Gloria Elix and Jerome Haynes. Jared resided in Kansas City, Missouri at the time he fell asleep in death on November 14, 2025, at the young age of 47.

Jared attended schools in Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Southwest High School, Kansas City, Missouri for two years. At the invitation and with the assistance of his Uncle Brian and family, Jared moved to Washington state to finish his schooling. He was able to run track and play football. He really loved being there with them. Jared did well. He graduated from Federal Way High School in Federal Way, Washington. No matter what city or state Jared lived in, he loved the Kansas City Chiefs. He would proudly wear hats and sports apparel with Chiefs logos on them.

In his youth, Jared liked to write poetry. He enjoyed singing and dancing. He loved music and found pleasure in listening to a wide variety of music, old school, R&B, rap and jazz. Jared appreciated being able to take note of the changes in fashion and enjoyed selecting and matching clothes, shoes, hats and fragrances for occasions.

After completing school Jared lived and worked as an apartment painter, driver and distributor for a bottling company and other jobs in the Seattle-Tacoma area. He later moved back to the Kansas City, Missouri area to be closer to family and friends. Jared was able to continue his career as an Independent Contract Painter painting homes and businesses in Kansas City. He worked for M&M Painting, painting commercial and residential properties in Kansas City, Missouri and in Lawrence, Kansas. Jared worked several positions doing exterior painting from aerial lifts in Wichita, Kansas painting newly constructed hotels and apartments. Back in Kansas City, Missouri Jared continued to paint interior and exterior homes, performed bathtub refinishing and reglazing, sheet rock finishing, wood repair and restoration jobs.

Near the start of the breakout of the Covid-19 pandemic, Jared worked as a Fulfillment Center Warehouse Associate with Amazon. Shortly after he experienced back-to-back life-altering injuries; he tried to continue to work. Jared would cut his own hair and often cut hair for friends. He made many happy by giving them haircuts at their homes. He did pretty good for not being formally trained.

Jared filled several contracted positions through Rand Employment Solutions intermittingly while waiting for much needed health care and corrective procedures. Jared worked as a Materials Handler with Polytainers in Lees Summit, Missouri and as a clerk with Rensenhouse Industrial Solutions and various painting projects for old friends and acquaintances.

Jared enjoyed playing, watching and talking to family and friends about sports especially discussing basketball and football stats. He enjoyed watching videos about cooking and cooking outdoors. He also liked to watch detective movies; True Crime, Whodunit, comedy movies and various documentaries on history of the Bible; nature and most all animal-related media. He came to enjoy sharing his time and personal space designing, drawing, painting or coloring adult coloring designs with friends.

Jared loved animals, especially dogs. He received his first pet, a dog from his Grandmother Sophia, through his Aunt Gwen. That pet was a sweet West Highland White Terrier named Fluffy. Loving that little family member started Jared’s life-long love of small dogs. Jared often gave his pets names like those of loved family members and or famous people. At one time Jared lived with a family of Chihuahuas. That family began with Nemo, a small male Pomeranian and Chihuahua mix who is mostly black and has white front paws. Then came Camia also black with a white streak down between her eyes. She was the mother of Nikki, Cardi, Kelce, Kobe, King, Prince, JoJo and Mollie. Jared liked Chihuahuas because they possess loyalty, charm and a big-dog attitude. Much like folks would sometimes describe him. At one point in time, Jared’s dog family included one gentle pretty blue-colored Pitbull named Kinya.

To pursue much needed surgeries and therapy; Jared had to disband his loving small family. Nemo was spared. He and Nemo became even closer. Nemo became Jared’s emotional support animal. He adapted to being put into most any kind of bag or box if needed. He protected Jared wherever they went. One could say they took turns protecting each other. When you saw one the other was close by. Jared could relax with Nemo most anywhere with a lot of prayer and reflecting on spiritual things he heard and read from the Bible.

We thank compassionate hospital staff and administration who let Nemo join our family and friends in surrounding Jared with love at a time he needed us most. Jared often thought with his heart. We like to think he was aware of us. His Mom’s sad heart appreciates the thought at Psalm 139:14 “…we are wonderfully made”…thanks to Jehovah she “…hopes Jared could see us with his mind’s eye and hear us with his heart’s ear.” Jared would pray for many things. He believed Jehovah could see some good in all people. We pray we are close by when he is able to hear the sound of a divine voice call his name and he is restored to life as the person we know but with perfect health and peace. --John 5:28, 29

Jared was proceeded in death by his grandmother Sophia Easter, uncle Kelvin Easter and grandfathers Samuel Easter and Arthur Haynes. He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Gloria Jordan (Fernando), three sisters Kiesha Elix, Cicelynn Elix, Iman Fennell (Richard), father, Jerome Haynes.

Additionally, Jared leaves two stepsisters DeJuana Lee and Janae LaMaster and two sister-like-cousins April Williams and Gina Haynes, a dear grandmother Elsie Haynes, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends and extended families that he adopted throughout his lifetime.

He will be missed by all who loved him.

“Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29) and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.” John 5:28, 29
