Listen to Obituary

Paul was born on March 7, 1937 in Lexington, MO to Thelma Christine and Earl Leslie Revere. His name was suggested by his Aunt Frances. As a child his nickname was Jabo. He was an only child and spoiled with lots of toys. At the age of eight years old his mother bought him a piano. That weekend he played the piano all day, every day until he had to go to school on Monday. He also started playing the trumpet at the age of twelve. He played Taps on his trumpet for a number of military funerals in Lexington.

Paul graduated from Central High School in Louisville, KY. He then attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. Where he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Paul studied industrial engineering and music. He graduated with a degree in Engineering in 1959. He then became employed with Lake City Army Ammunition Plant and was the first black Industrial Engineer. In 1960 the Army called Paul and he left Lake City. He served in the Army for two years at the Precidio near San Francisco, CA. In 1962, after being discharged from the Army, he played piano and trumpet professionally with the Paul Revere Quintet for two years. In 1964 Jasper moved back to Lexington, MO.  He again worked at Lake City Ammunition Plant. He continued to work there for 40 years until retirement. He was also the owner of the 10th Street Tavern in Lexington for several years until he sold it and moved to Kansas City. While living in Kansas City he had been a musical director for Westminister Baptist Church and St. James United Methodist Church Men’s Choir.  He also served as a Mason. Paul enjoyed reading, traveling, working with kids and crawdad hunting. He was a faithful, loyal fan to his Kansas City Chiefs and he adored his beloved Kansas Jayhawks.

Paul will be remembered by: his wife Matheldell Revere, his son Gregory White, his daughters Barbara White and LaChelle Carter. His stepsons Alvin Davis and Eric Weekly. Twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends.
