Listen to Obituary

Jean Elizabeth Johnson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 4, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri to Cedor F Lora Sr. and Jean Anita Lindsey.

Jean was united in holy matrimony to Don Phillip Johnson on March 11, 1965. They remained married until her death, a 55-year marriage. This union was blessed with three children: Donnedra, Bobbie and Yolanda.

Jean attended the Kansas City School district, where she attended D.A. Holmes, Central Junior and Central High School. Jean worked in the Health Care field and held positions as a Home Health Care Provider and Certified Nursing Assistant. She later retired from the Kansas City, Missouri School District. With the love of God in her heart at an early age, she attended Barker Temple and Metropolitan Church. In her adulthood, she served the Lord with gladness at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Usher Board, Mother’s Board and worked in the Food Pantry Ministry. Jean loved worshiping God and enjoyed playing her tambourine during praise and worship service. She was passionate about working with the children’s ministry, creating arts-and-crafts and serving in other areas of ministry as needed.

Affectionately called the Silver Fox, Jean loved her family! She has always been dedicated to family and enjoyed spreading love. She also enjoyed fishing with her grandsons, shopping with her daughters and granddaughters and being a confidant to anyone in need. Helping family and friends was commonplace. Though the mother of three, she took many family members and friends under her wings, loved, and nurtured them as her own. Jean had a positive impact on all those that came in contact with her. She will be missed dearly.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Cedro Lora Sr. and Jean Anita Lindsey, her brothers Michael Lora Sr. and Cedro Lora Jr., her sisters Patricia Reid and Barbara Lora, and her beloved daughter, Bobbie Dionne Johnson. Her beautiful spirit will forever be cherished by her husband, Don Johnson, daughters Donnedra (Bobby) Davis, Yolanda (Kenny Sr,) Goodwin; five grandsons: Jermaine & Michael Johnson, Kevin Randolph, Kenny Jr. and Kaland Goodwin; two granddaughters, Kimberly and Shawntae Johnson; ten great-grandchildren; her sisters Cornelia Benshidah, Teresa Lora, Shirley Walker; her brothers Mark Lora, Felix Lora, and Christopher Lora, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Due to COVID-19, please respect social distancing and face covering guidelines. Temperature checks will be enforced.
