Listen to Obituary
Jennie E. Wallace was born March 16, 1937 to the union of Roy and Bertha Wallace in Quitman County, Mississippi, and was subsequently raised in Lambert, Mississippi. She was educated in the Mississippi Public School System. Considered a virtuous woman, Jennie was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Bertha; her only sister, Mildred Bulford, and three brothers, Roger Wallace Sr., Roy Wallace Jr., and Larry Blue. Jennie accepted Christ as her personal savior at the early age of 9 years old, this is when her lifelong love of God, His word, and her service to Him began. She was a devout and active member of Jackson Memorial Freewill Baptist Church, serving on the Mother Board, Church Treasurer and in various other capacities over the years. One of her favorite scriptures, Psalms 119:11, was a reflection of how she lived her life: “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” She read, studied, and taught the teachings of His Word throughout her entire life. After moving to Kansas City in 1955, Jennie worked at the Geriatric Nursing Home, St. Luke’s Hospital and then dedicated over 36 years to Research Medical Center. She was known as loving, humble, strong yet kind, God fearing women that truly never met a stranger. Even through her quiet spirit, she openly shared her love for God, and was known for having a great memory with a depth of knowledge that was unmatched. Jennie was happiest when surrounded by family andfriends. She loved to travel to church conferences and to family reunions. Her passion for the arts was evident through her love of music, plays, and the orchestra. Another love was sharing time with co-workers in the mid-night bowling league for many years. One of her proudest moments is when she bowled a 300, a perfect score. She could wear a hat like none other and sew-ing kept her hands busy in her early years. Her nurturing spirit always drew her to babies and children, sharing all she had with them and encouraging them to grow in the Lord. She touched so many lives; she was a pillar in the church, for her family, and throughout her community. She always shared her wisdom and advice in a tender loving way. Her generosity and kind spirit will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her wonderful memories, her only surviving sibling, Harold Wallace, Sr. (Esther) of Kansas City, Missouri; and to carry on her legacy are her two sons, Rodney Wallace (Sonvia) of Kansas City, Kansas, and Jamal Wallace (Kesha) of Kansas City, Missouri; her six daughters, Debra Wallace of Kansas City, Missouri, Tonia Pratt (Robert) of Kansas City, Missouri, Sylvia Small (Daniel) of Jacksonville, Florida, Cynthia Turner (Dennis) of Raytown, Missouri, Janice Wallace of Grandview, Missouri, and Ashley Wallace of Jacksonville, Florida; her Goddaughter, Joi Vaughn of Blue Springs, Missouri; and a host of Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
