Jeremy David Melvin Banks was born May 29, 1996 in Kansas City, MO to the union of Joe Dean Banks Jr. and Shareese Moody Banks. Jeremy left this earthly life on March 6, 2017. Jeremy was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joe Dean Banks Sr. and his uncle Russell Lyle. Jeremy attended Derrick Thomas Academy and the Kansas City, MO and Fort Osage School Districts. Jeremy enjoyed cooking at home and at work. He worked for several food establishments including Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Houston's Restaurant and Jack Stacks Barbeque. He joined the Roofer's Local Union and worked as a roofer for commercial buildings in the Kansas City area. Jeremy had a special love for his family. His youngest sisters called him "Bubby." For the past several years, he was adamant about being sure the family swimming pool was cleaned and ready for summer fun. He also had a passion for fishing and went fishing every chance he could. Jeremy's other passions were for dogs and cars. He made sure he had at least one of each. He was a jokester, which sometimes got him into trouble. Jeremy had a nickname for everyone. His huge smile and loud laugh will always resonate in the minds and hearts of those who were privileged to have known him. Jeremy's recent plans were to buy and renovate property for rent or sale. He said he was going to do like is dad. He was determined to do great things so his family would be proud of him. Jeremy knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He was a lifelong member of Grant Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where he was a member of the Young People's Division (YPD). He believed in the power of prayer and would pray often with his grandparents and other special people in his life. His desire was to get closer and closer to God as he began to read the Bible daily. Jeremy will be deeply missed by his mother Shareese Moody, his father and stepmother Joe and Leslie Banks Jr.; 4 brothers, Andre Tenner-Moody, Joe D. Banks, Isaiah R. Banks and Jordan R. Banks; 6 sisters, Aleeyah C. Banks, Aniyah Winstead-Moody, Aiyana Winstead-Moody, April Moody, Aryiana Winstead-Moody and Izabella Winstead-Moody; grandmother Ellen Banks; grandparents, Melvin and Cynthia Moody and James and Ilesa Chidester; 4 aunts, Jotina White, Elita Banks, Ranae Wright (Anthony) and Tanya Moody; a host of other relatives and friends; and lastly his beloved dog, Brooklyn.
