Jerome Gibbs

Jerome Gibbs passed away on December 18, 2025, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Lenexa Kansas. He was born on November 26th, 1945, in the small town of Gibraltar, in the parish of St. Ann Jamaica to Slyvannus Gibbs and Agatha Jack. He grew up in Gibraltar, St. Ann and also graduated from the Gibraltar All Age School in St. Ann Jamaica.

He began working at the Kaiser Bauxite Mining Company as a machine operator. He worked there for 15 years until he migrated to the United States of America. He was a cab driver in Missouri for 11 years and after attending trucking school he became a commercial truck driver with Deffenbaugh, now known as Waste Management Disposal Company. He stayed in that position for 15 years until his retirement. He married Audrey Stewart in June 1976 in Kingston, Jamaica and they stayed married for 34 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Veta Gibbs and Josephus Gibbs. He is survived by his children Denise Gibbs-Green, Marcia Gibbs, Garnet Gibbs, Leighton Gibbs, Carmel and Camille Gibbs. His Siblings Beryll Gibbs, Monica Hall, John Gibbs and Bertel Gibbs. Ex wife Audrey Gibbs. Grandchildren, Madison, Sienna, Gabrielle , Kedine and dear friend Shirely Lovelace and a host of nephews and nieces.

Jerome was battling cancer for a number of years and he succumb to the disease on December 18th, 2025. Rest in peace Jerome Gibbs
