Jeron DeAnthony Shaw, affectionately known as "Bubba," departed this life on June 6, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 31. Born July 10, 1992, in Kansas City, Missouri to Mrs. Penny Dale-McCant, Jeron was educated in the Kansas City and Raytown Missouri School Districts and graduated from Raytown High School in 2010. He pursued higher education at Full Sail University located in Winter Park, Florida aiming for a degree in Entertainment Media and Emerging Technologies. He later worked for The Coca-Cola Companies, training to become a driver with completion of receiving his CDL.
"Bubba" was loved by many and admired by all. He inherited his mother's welcoming nature, and no one was a stranger. He so loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews, and was honored to be "Uncle Bubba." He had a huge heart and an incredible passion for others. He had the most inviting smile and laughter, could hold a conversation with anyone about anything and he made people feel special. He lit up every room he entered and was the life of the party. He was known for his dancing skills and his unique style in clothing.
Bubba's love for dance and entertainment resulted in numerous accomplishments. He discovered his passion for dance at the tender age of two, captivating audiences whenever music played. At the age of six, Kevin Gregg James and Don Daughtry, Sr. introduced him to the world-famous Marching Cobras drill team under the direction of Mr. Willie Arthur Smith, whom he adored and called Grandpa. Bubba remained with The Cobras until he graduated high school and was the last In his age group To be crowned "Junior Cobra" In 2004. His dedication to the Cobras continued throughout his life, visiting them whenever he was in town.
At the age of seven, along with his stepbrother Marcus Yates, they formed a dance group called Prep Divine. Under the mentorship of choreographer Damon Strickland (AKA Strict D.), and managed by Ike Yates, Prep Devine dedicated countless hours to mastering various dance styles. Their hard work paid off, as they dominated local dance contests, including "The Kansas City Apollo", and the "Spotlight on KC Talent Showcase" which was backed by Disney.
From 2004 to 2008, Bubba and Marcus participated in Usher's Camp New Look, a prestigious program held at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Here, Usher and his team mentored a select group of teens from different states teaching them the ends and outs of the entertainment industry. Prep DeVine also had the honor of performing alongside artists such as Keyshia Cole, TI, Big Krizz Kaliko and Tech N9ne during a Summer Fest Concert held in the city. Bubba became skilled in the areas of studio recording and songwriting, even Recording several of his own songs.
Spending time with his cousins was priceless. They spent time together, every chance they could. They were like his brothers and sisters. Growing up, his second home was at Lonnie Dale's house. She was the cousin who played a significant role in raising him and his brother. Outside of family, Bubba had numerous best friends, including the late Nick Butler. It would be difficult to name every one of you and tell the world how much you all meant to him. But just know, you all were cherished just as much as his family. To his Alanta Family, You guys were his rock and provided unwavering support when it was needed. So, to you, we are eternally grateful, and say Thank You!
Jeron leaves behind a legacy cherished his Mother Penny McCant, Stepdad Myron McCant, his father Howard Kevin Chase and wife Christy, His "Pops" John A. Shaw and wife Kim. He is also survived by his Big Brother Brandon Shaw, Stepsiblings Myia McCant and Malik McCant, Kimberly Williams, Damita Jackson and Cortez Jackson, The Chase siblings: Tashiba Marrett, Tyeasha Smith, Takisha Baston, Takia Chase, Tukesa Chase, Howard Chase Jr., HaKela Chase, Takea Chase, Tanae Chase, Howard Chase III, Howard Chase IV, Sean Howard Chase, Howard Chase V, Kyra Chase, Bailey Chase
and Bria Chase. Additionally, he leaves behind bonus siblings Dominique Brockman, Marcus Yates and Mica Yates, along with numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and of course his Best Friends.
