Jerry Wayne Washington, 67, passed away on October 24, 2021, at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, MO. He was born on July 17, 1954, in Blevins, Arkansas to Robert Heath and Ava Washington. He grew up in Blevins Arkansas where he graduated from Blevins High School. After high school Jerry attended The Electronic Institute before starting his career at Union Pacific Railroad as a Carmen Inspector. Jerry worked at Union Pacific for 42 years before retiring in 2014. Jerry had a passion for caring for his lawn, so in 2012 he opened JW Landscaping. Jerry continued his passion until August 2021.
Jerry married Golda (Powell) Washington and they were married for 46 years, until they were separated by Jerry’s death. In 1975 Jerry and Golda welcomed their only son, Kelly (Kels as Jerry called him) to their family. Jerry enjoyed talking about sports with Kelly as well as spending time with his family and going out to dinner with his wife. Jerry was a deacon at Church Triumphant World Overcomers for 15 years under the leadership of Rev. Maurice Williams. Jerry and Golda later joined World Revival Church under the leadership of Pastor Steve and Kathy Gary. Jerry remained an active member until his unexpected passing.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; one aunt, Helen Washington; father-in-law, George Powell; mother-in-law, Erma Powell; three brothers-in-law, Lorenzo Powell, Robert Powell, and Frank Smocks Sr.; and one sister-in-law, Virgie Powell.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Golda Washington; son, Kelly Powell (Ambral); two granddaughters, Dariana, and Kelley Powell; two brothers, Richard Williamson, and Tony Williamson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
