Jewestine Robinson, 74, passed away peacefully at her home on December 7, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born to Catherine and Leroy Davis on March 15, 1950, in Holly Grove, Arkansas. Jewestine grew up in Holly Grove and moved to Kansas City in 1968.

In 1970, she married her beloved husband, Johnny Robinson, and they shared a joyous union for 55 years.

Jewestine earned her GED and attended Penn Valley Community College. She worked for the Hickman Mills School District for many years, dedicating her time to supporting young students at Ingles Elementary. She was instrumental in helping rebuild the Boys & Girls Club on 63rd Street in South Kansas City. J

ewestine’s life was devoted to community service. She contributed to Reverend Emanuel Cleaver’s election campaign, volunteered with the AdHoc Group Against Crime alongside Alvin Brooks, and played a pivotal role in establishing several churches in the Kansas City area. She was a member of Peace Maker COGIC before joining her husband Johnny at Trinity Temple COGIC.

Jewestine also launched the Young Ministers Nights, a successful program from 1980 to 1985, which provided aspiring ministers a platform to utilize and display their gifts of ministering for the glory of God. Notable participants included Bishop Lester Jones and Minister Ed Washington. She collaborated with Elder Arthur Perkins on the Home Foreign Mission, personally driving buses for out-of-town mission trips.

A tireless advocate for children, Jewestine founded The Just My Imagination Program in 1994 for disadvantaged and at-risk youth. She also wrote and directed plays that were performed at the Linwood Multipurpose Center. Her passion for mentoring and nurturing children was evident in every endeavor, including opening her home to foster children, many of whom became permanent members of her family.

Jewestine and Johnny produced several acclaimed plays, including The Buffalo Soldiers and I Know I’ve Been Changed, which featured Shirley Murdock and a young Tyler Perry during the early stages of his career.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Catherine Davis; her son, Johnny Bernard Robinson Jr.; three brothers, Clarence, Larry, and Leroy Davis Jr.; and one sister, Lenora Miller.

Jewestine leaves behind her loving husband, Johnny Robinson; her daughter, Wendy Robinson; her son, Keith Robinson; her brothers, Albert Davis, Van Davis (Debra), and Paul Davis (Danita); her sisters, Christine Martin, Shirley Locke (Robert), Emma Johnson (Chester), and Linda Smith; her grandsons, Jordan Maxwell and Levi Cadwallader; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory
