JoAnn Bell, 81, departed this life on September 28, 2024, at Ignite Medical Resort in Blue Springs, Missouri. She was born on January 9, 1943, in Searcy, Arkansas to Bill Smith and Addie Dee Horton.
She grew up in Kensett, Arkansas, but graduated from White County Training School in Searcy, Arkansas. After high school, JoAnn attended Queen of the World Nursing School in Kansas City, Missouri. She began her career with St. Mary’s Hospital as an LPN, where she worked for 10 years. JoAnn was a Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the Agape Sowers. She was a volunteer in several ministries at her church.
JoAnn married William R. Bell, Sr., on November 26, 1963, in Kansas City, Missouri. They were happily married for 61 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill Smith and Addie Dee Horton; her foster father, Virgil Allen; her foster mother, Ola Hammonds; and her daughters, LaDonna Bell and Teresa Bell.
JoAnn leaves to cherish her memories her husband, William R. Bell, Sr., of Kansas City, Missouri; her children, Brenda Muhammad of Florida, Kevin Bell, Sr, and JoAnn Bell both of Kansas City, Missouri, William R. Bell, Jr of Liberty, Missouri, and LaShaun Bell of Kansas City, Missouri; her daughter-in-law, Kendra Bell; her sons-in-law, Ronald Q. Bell, Jeffery Garrison, and Charles Sullivan all of Kansas City, Missouri; her siblings, Mary Burris of Omaha, Nebraska, Deborah Horton of New Hope, Minnesota, and Rita Burris of Kansas City, Missouri; her grandchildren, Angelo D. Nelson, Jr., and Ashley A. Garrison both of Kansas City, Missouri, Otis D. Nelson, Patrick T. Nelson, Briona A. Nelson all of Florida, Kevin Bell, Jr., Doriyan Holly Horn, Myesha Bell, Alycia Bell, Iman Bell, Faith Bell, Domonique Bell all of Kansas City, Missouri, JoAnie Bell, Jaina Bell, Benjamin Bell, Jeremiah Bell all of Liberty Missouri; her great-grandchildren, Deion A. Nelson, Areionna D. Nelson, Angelo D. Nelson, III, Chase E.A. Nelson, Jorden Gates, Mi-Amour Roseburr, Kal-el Roseburr, and Rhyland Christian all of Kansas City, Missouri, and a host of other relatives and friends.
