Joanne Elise Cullen

JoAnne Elise Wallace was born on April 2, 1934 to Wilbur Wallace and Esther Mae Mayberry in Kansas City, Kansas. Her parents, two sisters, Theresa Lacy and Irene Clark, her oldest son Adam Henry Pearson and two grandchildren Kevin D. Cullen II and Daniel Wayne Cullen II preceded her in death.

JoAnne was educated in the Kansas City, Ks public school system and was a 1952 Sumner High School graduate. JoAnne also spent one year at Oakwood College.

JoAnne met and married Henry Pearson and to that union one son, Adam, was born. The marriage was later dissolved.

On February 14,1959 JoAnne married Tommie Cullen Jr. To that union four sons were born, Kevin, Daniel, Jonathan and Timothy. This marriage was also later dissolved.

Music was a big part of her life. JoAnne learned to play the piano and sing as a young girl. She sang at many Kansas City churches with her younger sister Beverly. Later, JoAnne would become part of the nationally known Doris Johnson Singers. JoAnne traveled and recorded with the group for many years. JoAnne was most locally known for having played the piano for many churches in the Kansas City area and working with their choirs.

JoAnne was employed with Sears for many years working her way up to Credit and Collections supervisor and later transferring into IT. JoAnne was later employed by Fortis in administration for many years until her retirement.

Joanne enjoyed life after retirement. She loved to travel and spend time with friends and family. Her travels took her all over the country. Some of her favorite places include, Las Vegas, Hawaii and any cruise she was able to take.

JoAnne is survived by one sister; Mrs. Beverly Hurt (Los Angeles), four sons; Kevin (Jacqueline), Daniel, Jonathan and Timothy, fourteen grandchildren; Dannielle Johnson (Raymond), Jay Cullen, Lalani Pearson, Matthew Cullen, Hamilton Cullen, Jacoby Beard, Kyle Morris, Taylor Cullen, Timothy Cullen Jr., Thomas Cullen, Gabrielle Cullen, Zion Cullen and Zoie Cullen, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
