Listen to Obituary

John Henry Allen was born in Kansas City, KS on May 25th, 1950 to Paul Allen Sr. and Margaret Ward-Allen. He was the fourth child of ten children. At age 17, John enlisted into the United States Army where he completed his GED during his time of service from 1967 to 1970 and was honorably discharged.

In March of 1972, John was united in marriage to Wendy Parker. To this union, one child was born, Tracy Allen. Prior to becoming married, John was blessed with a daughter as well, Molette Winslett.

At his core, John was a renaissance man. Being a mechanic became his choice of a career. To further enhance his skills he attended American Diesel Automotive School in Denver, Colorado which afforded him the specialized title of a Heavy Diesel Mechanic and he also received an HVAC certification from Denver Institute of Technology. During his years of employment he worked for Santa Fe Railroad, Laidlaw Transit, and the City & County of Denver.

When he wasn’t working hard, he enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, and eating a delicious meal. He also enjoyed listening and dancing to his favorite artists BB King, Gladys Knight, and James Brown. His favorite past time activity was keeping his cars clean and maintained. He loved BMWs and anything where he could put the pedal to the medal! His motto was anything will fall apart if not taken care of old or new and a favorite saying of his was, “A raggedy ride beats a dressed up walk!”. John enjoyed seeing and hearing about the great accomplishments of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and most of all helping others when and however he could. He was a great example of hard work, dedication, love, and care.

John is preceded in death by his parents; Pastor Paul Allen Sr. and Margaret Ward-Allen, Bonus Mother: Leoma Allen, Brothers; James (Jean) Allen Sr., Robert Allen, Larry Allen, and Benjamin (Chiquita) Allen.
