John B. Black, 53, passed away on August 18, 2025, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Lee’s Summit, MO. He was born on July 1, 1972, in Kansas City, MO, to Jean M. Hack and John B. Cox.
He grew up in Kansas City, MO, where he graduated from Southwest High School. During high school he played football and was in ROTC. After high school, he attended Job Corps in Clearfield, Utah, where he received a certificate in cement masonry and landscaping. He was employed at CEVA Logistics.
His hobbies were fishing, cooking, watching Chiefs football, and KU basketball.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Hack, his dad, John B. Cox, maternal grandfather, Clarence Black Sr., maternal aunts; Carol Moses and Sherri Black, paternal grandmother, Ollie Mae Bailey, paternal uncle, (Jerry Cox), and paternal aunt, (Aunt Finnie).
He is survived by his mother Jean; grandmother Jean; uncle, Clarence (Sonya); aunt (Yodie)Yolanda (Kaseem); sisters: Nicole (M), Dee Dee (P); brothers: Tyree (P), LaRon (P), and Timothy (P); significant other, Michelle; daughters: JaNaisha, Jai, Janiya; son, John Jr; grandchildren: Kaden, Nathaniel and Amayah; niece, Dominique; nephew, Darrick; cousins: Tarron (Michelle), Clayton and Cree (Nate), Keara, Brianna, Xavier, and a host of other relatives and friends.
