Depending on when you crossed paths with John “Jr.” and where you entered the equation you have bits and pieces of his story. Now, let’s put it all together and share with you the life and times of John Maurice Campbell.
John took his first breath on October 7, 195l, in Ripley, Tennessee to the union of John Emmit Campbell and Katie Mae (Hunt) Campbell. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met. After he moved to Kansas City, Missouri at the age of nine, he entered school in the Kansas City, Missouri School District and graduated from Manual High School in 1969. He continued his life’s journey with over thirty years of employment with Price Chopper in Kansas City, Kansas from where he retired.
He had a passion for cars, especially the 1958 Chevy Delray that he recently restored. He loved playing a mean game of dominoes with his friends and was known as one of the best to hit the table.
God blessed Jr. to celebrate his 75th birthday on October 7th with family and friends all around him laughing, joking, sipping his favorite beverage and eating cake. He later took his last breath on October 15, 2026, at his home where he was surrounded by family and friends and was welcomed into his heavenly home by his mother, Katie; loving wife, Evelyn; sister, Vera and brothers, Norris and Reginald. He left a lasting impression on family and friends sharing his knowledge, jokes, laughter and willingness to help anyone.
Left to cherish Jr.'s wonderful memories: his father John Campbell, Sr.; to continue his legacy, his sons, Charles Champbell and Marlon “DuJuan” Campbell; his daughters, Muyaka Denmon and Erica Haliburton; his siblings; Robert “Bob” Campbell, Alphonso Campbell (Adriene), Lynn Campbell (Connie), Wanda Bussey (Clarence/deceased), Michelle McGee (Robert) and Gwen Campbell; his aunt, Ada Sue Campbell; his uncle, Donald Ray Morgan; his loving companion, Carlos McClain; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends whose lives he touched.
He will be greatly missed!!!!
