Listen to Obituary

John Allen Faceson was born on February 18, 1950, in Joiner, AR, to Henry Allen Faceson and Johnnie Mae Jones. As the oldest of eight siblings, John was deeply loved and respected by each of his brothers and sisters. He was known for his influence, as his siblings often took his words to heart. John was raised by Cora Horton (great grandmother), who played a significant role in shaping his upbringing.  Prior to his transition, he was preceded by Cora “Madea” Horton and her husband Willie Horton, also known as "Mr. Bud," his mother Johnnie Mae Jones, and stepfather, Robert Lee "Pig" Jones. He is also preceded by his sisters, Caroline "Hope" Faceson and Charlotte "Neecey" Jones, as well as a host of other cherished family members.

As the eldest of 8 siblings, John was affectionately known as Johnny Boy, and to his brother, he was "an amazing man of his word." A dedicated and hardworking individual, John took pride in everything he did, from his appearance to his family responsibilities. He was an exceptional father and provider, always willing to go out of his way for others. Although a man of strong faith, John had a lighthearted side and never missed an opportunity for a joke, finding humor in everyday life. He loved bowling, dancing, and was known as "Hollywood" in his younger days for his smooth moves on the dance floor. His love for gospel music was evident through his constant humming and singing.

While family and hobbies held great importance to him, John remained naturally reserved, except when he was sharing his infectious humor. A loyal-fair weather fan, he followed the Chiefs.

Country boy born in Arkansas, John professed his love for Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the tender age of 12 at New Baptist Church in Blytheville, Arkansas. He completed his elementary education at Franklin Elementary and went on to attend Richard B. Harrison High School in Arkansas, graduating in the class of '69. Following his graduation, he was employed as a supervisor at Myers Bakery for 8 years before relocating to Kansas City, Missouri in 1973.

In 1975, John was ordained as a deacon at the Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church. During his time there, he served as the Superintendent of Sunday School and participated in the men's chorus and church choir. Subsequently, he became a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he continued to contribute by singing in the men's chorus and teaching Sunday school.  Departing this world, John carried with him a deep love and unshakable relationship with Christ. He lived a life dedicated to the Lord and found peace in his transition, unafraid to return home.

For 36 years, John dedicated his professional life to the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, where he worked as a Bus Operator until his well-deserved retirement. Additionally, he held the esteemed position of a 3rd Degree Mason Past Master with the Progress Lodge #77 in Kansas City, Kansas. Post-retirement, he briefly worked for Allied Security as a Security Guard before embracing a life of leisure; in California, he spent his final days before moving to his final rest place.

John is survived by his adoring family members who will always hold his memory dear. He is survived by his daughters: Keyaira Faceson and Shaneece Smiley, and his sons: Marrio “Face” Faceson (Mercy), Charles Smiley (Sarah), Anthony Smiley (Christal), and Brandon Smiley (Jimmarie). Additionally, he is survived by his sisters: Gloria Glenn (Albert), Lois Jones-Wiley, and Leann Jones, as well as his brothers: Robert “Honey Boy” Jones (Dr. Seniora) and Tommie Lee Jones. John also leaves behind a host of cherished grandchildren, cousins, and extended family and friends; too numerous to name individually. We are profoundly grateful for the love and respect you have shown our beloved John throughout the years. May God bless each one of you.
