On May 27, 1999, John Lamonte Greer was born to Johnetta Greer-Jones, and Ronald E. James, their only son. He was a wonderful brother to Javae, Jade, Jasmine (who preceded him in death), and Innocentia.
He was an outstanding uncle to Tai’yon, Taliyah, Elizabeth, Elijah, and Malachi. Ever since he was young John always had the ability to attract many friends from all walks of life, one being his best friend, Christopher Williams. John always had a magnetic aura, and he never judged a soul. He was relentless and stuck his neck out for those whom he loved, and he loved everyone. John would’ve given his last to his friends and family.
He was such a selfless person whether you needed money, a ride, clothes, a handyman, or a confidante, he would always be there in a time of need.
As a young man John played for the Della Lamb Saints for 4 years; football was his life. He took his nephew Tai’yon under his wing and taught him how to play the game.
John went to Operation Breakthrough which made a profound impact on him. He made many memories, had amazing experiences, and met so many amazing people who were still vital in his life.
John continued his studies at Gordon Parks Elementary where he would help with the school gardens or help in the school kitchen. He made may lifelong friends, who are with us today. John went on to attend J.A. Rogers where was met with a school full of diversity. John then developed an appreciation for all people, regardless of their ethnicity. He finished his schooling at Hogan Prepatory (middle and high school) where he played his last years of football and graduated in 2017.
After high school John continued to help others by setting aside time to feed the homeless and so what he could for those who were less fortunate.
John helped Travis with the care of Tai’yon and Taliyah. Whenever Travis called and needed help, John would always make sure he was available. John had amazing work ethic. He loved being a laborer and getting his hands dirty. He had many jobs such as, Two Men and A Truck, Hallmark Stone, and Olshan Foundation Repair. He remained a good friend and a good soul that will be missed but will never be forgotten. John will be in our hearts and minds always and forever. We love you, Bubba!
