John Franklin Owens, Jr., 31 was picked by God to end his earthly journey on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.
John was born on July 11, 1986, in Kansas City Missouri, to John Owens Sr., and Shirley Coppage-Owens. He attended the Kansas City Missouri Public School District, and joined the Job Corps. Bam worked at Avis Rental Company, as a detailer, he also worked various jobs as a forklift driver. He joined church and baptized at an early age. He was recently married to Desirea Stanton, on July 11, 2017, in Las Vegas, NV., which was also his birthday.
John (Bam) was a very family oriented person who found joy in loving his wife, family, and friends; and his loving sister KoKo, who held a special place in his heart. He was also a loving and devoted Son, Husband, Father, Godfather, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin and Friend. The love Bam had for his cousin, Keith (Jr.), wasn’t just as cousins, but brothers that were inseparable. Bam loved young kids, and could always make them smile and feel safe. He will be remembered for his “SMILE”, that could brighten up any room.
Bam loved fixing up cars, socializing with the fellas, listening and composing music. He was an avid sports fan, and he loved the KC Chiefs and was their strongest supporter.
He was preceded in death by Margaret Coppage, Maternal Grandmother; Ben Owens, Paternal Grandfather; Earl Coppage ( Brother ); Marceline Coppage ( Aunt );) Janet Blewett ( Aunt ); and Jayden Ugwuh, Montell Ross, Lester Davis, and Carrie Blewett ( Cousins).
He leaves to cherish his memory: His new bride, Desirea Stanton-Owens( Wife ); John Owens, Sr.( Father ); Shirley Coppage-Owens (Emmanuel) Mother; Charles Coppage (Kekelia), Clinton Coppage (Carmen), Andre Griffen (Keeisha) ( Brothers & In-Laws) ; Shirley Owens (Reginald), Melanie Hall (Larry) ( Sisters ); Airianna Owens, DeMiko Wade Bentley, and Serenity Garlington ( Children ). Bam will be missed and remembered by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of Flowers the family is requesting memorial donations be sent to Shirley Coppage-Owens for the Bam Children Scholarship Fund.
