Johnie Webster, Jr. the eldest child of nine born to Johnie Webster, Sr. & Rosie Lee Chandler entered world on Saturday, September 14, 1935 in the small rural town of Postelle Arkansas. Johnie's work ethic known to all that crossed his path was refined and developed as he, his parents and siblings farmed during all of his school age years. Upon graduation from M. M. Tate High School in Marvell, Arkansas Johnie accepted an invitation from his first cousin Doris to join her in Kansas City, Missouri. After accepting his cousin's invitation Johnie soon found employment as a mill-wright for the Bendex Aviation Corporation in south Kansas City. As a mill-wright Johnie was responsible for maintaining and constructing industrial machinery for the military aviation giant. In early 1957 after working a couple of years at Bendex the United States Army came calling and Johnie was drafted into the Army. After completion of Basic Training he was Honorably Discharged on July 29th, 1958 and soon thereafter resumed his career and position at Bendex. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Johnie's skills as a mill-wright probably led to his Honorable Discharge and return to Bendex, in other words, the man had mad skills and Bendex wanted him back. Later that year he would ask the love of his life Ms. Jacqueline Lee to be his bride and she accepted and on October 9th, 1958 the two wed and in the fifty-seven years of marriage the two were blessed with six beautiful children, twonboys and four girls. With the exception of the year off after being drafted and subsequently Honorably Discharged Johnie spent 38 years at Bendex in total, retiring in 1992. Not one to be sitting around enjoying retirement it took him just a couple of years to figure out retirement wasn't for him so he took job at True Value Hardware in Kansas City. He would work the remainder of his life, the next twenty-two years averaging two to three days per week at his new job. This job was truly the perfect job for him because it allowed him to not only meet people, but it allowed him to do something more, help people. If you knew Johnie, you knew he never met a stranger which is why the position at the hardware store was such a perfect fit for him and something that he completely and truly enjoyed. Johnie Webster, Jr. passed away on the evening of Sunday August 21st at Research Medical Center where he was rushed to after being found unresponsive by family. He was preceded in death by his parents Johnie and Rosie Webster and one sister Ucala Webster. He leaves to cherish his precious memory a loving and devoted wife, Jacqueline Lee Webster; two sons: Johnie Lamar Webster and Darrin (Erica) Webster; four daughters: Sharon (Forest) Tyson; Victoria (Lawrence) Brooks; Delores Webster-Lewis; and Donna Webster-Bell of Kansas City. Johnie also leaves to mourn his passing two sisters: Shirley Neely and Minnie (Pete) Mitchem; five brothers: Chester (Ruby) Webster; Floyd Webster; Donald Webster, Sr.; Verdell Webster; and Joe (Edie) Webster, twenty grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends. Johnie Webster, Jr. spent over eighty years on this earth and everyone that crossed his path is without a doubt a better person for having known him. Rest well our beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. We will sorely miss you! "We've shared a wonderful life together" Jacqueline Lee Webster, wife.
