A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 for Johnnie Hampton-Davis. Services will be held at Harvest Church, 4300 N Corrington Ave Kansas City, Missouri. She departed from this life on Tuesday, November 27th, in her sleep. Our beloved, Johnnie Hampton-Davis was a quiet fire, she was a southern girl at heart. She loved her family and friends with all her heart and soul. She was a loving mother, nurturer, and grandmother. She was born in the great state of Mississippi to Booker T. Hampton Sr. & Alma Hampton. She was fourth of twelve children. As the fourth of twelve she became responsible for the upbringing of the later siblings. This were her nurturing spirit was developed and passion for caring for children began and continued throughout her life. She was affectionately known as MaMa by all due to her sweet personality. In her formative years, Johnnie was one of the 1st African American to integrate Liberty High School in 1968. She migrated to St. Louis, Missouri to pursue a career at St. Antony’s Medical Center. She worked in Labor and Delivery for over 40 years. She leaves to cherish her fond memories and legacy: her loving children Yolanda Waldon, and Derrick Davis, and two grandchildren Alonzo Byrd, and Aniya Byrd. Seven siblings Roy Hampton (Sarah), Emmanuel Hampton, Percy Hampton (JoAnne), May Givens (Billy), Vera May Price (Byron), Jessie Jackson (Paul), and Broderick Hampton; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and loved ones.
