Jonathan E. Cherry Sr., affectionately known as Bady Joe, was born on September 6th, 1971, to Eugene and Dianna Cherry. He was the beloved middle child of three, with Latishia Collins and Vernell Cherry as his siblings. Jonathan also shared a special bond with his two older brothers, Patrick Holding and Marty Nelson.
Raised in Compton, CA, Jonathan embraced his upbringing and attended school there. He later earned his GED and became a member of the esteemed Compton Boys Choir. Eventually, he relocated to Kansas City, MO, where he established his home until his passing.
Jonathan Sr. was a loving father to five children: Johnique, Nejahan, Nathan Cherry, Jonathan Jr. (preceded him in death), and Amerion Marshall. He took immense pride in his role as a father and grandfather to his cherished grandchild, Naloni Hawkins.
In addition to his children and grandchild, Jonathan leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by his nieces: Keshawan, Lavashia, Kendra, and Heaven, as well as his nephews: Dashon, Kevin, and Kenveion. He will be deeply missed by a host of other family members and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and warmth.
Jonathan E. Cherry Sr. will be remembered not only for his familial devotion but also for his vibrant spirit and the joy he brought to those around him. As he departs from this world, he leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
