On August 18, 2022, Jordan Christopher Penn, the only child of Nykita Penn, got his wings and took flight to a more beautiful, more comforting, more peaceful site in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On October 14, 1999, Jordan “JJ” entered this life, and his family’s heart at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Jordan had a winning smile and was anxious to experience life from the very beginning. He lived in Kansas City his entire, short life. Graduating from online education at Ruskin High School, he also attended Metropolitan Community College-Longview Campus. Jordan worked for the Wells Family American Food and Vending Company and at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in their restaurant. There he was privileged to work with his cousin, Chef Marcus Locke. Jordan loved working there, enjoyed his coworkers and considered them family.
His real family was a Willis Chapel A.M.E. Church. Jordan was active in the youth department as he was growing up. He was a member of the step team and served on the youth usher board.
Jordan was a diehard Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. He enjoyed watching and playing sports both in person and online like PlayStation games with family and friends. He liked Madden sports tournaments, the Japanese art, Anime, and out of space Star Wars adventures.
Waiting to greet Jordan in Glory are his paternal great-grandparents, Ambrose Penn, Sr., and Ruth Penn; his maternal great-grandfather, Truman Williams; his uncle, Dwight James Penn; two great-aunts, Betty Watts, and Karen Jordan; and close cousins, Ryan Jaye Jordan, and Caryn Watts.
Left to mourn his passing are his mother, Nykita Penn; his grandfather, Ambrose Penn, Jr.; his maternal grandmother, Dr. Judy I. Briscoe (Curtis); his maternal great-grandmother, Jeanette Smith; and a host of relatives and friends.
