Joseph Reese

February 17, 1956 — December 3, 2021

Listen to Obituary

Joseph Reese was born on February 17, 1956, to the union of George W. Reese Sr.  and Willie Mae Reese. He was preceded in death by his parents; only daughter, Joanna Reese; and five sisters, Delma Johnson, Georgia Mae Reese, Lorraine Beavers, Betty Crawford and Rita Turner.

Joe-Joe, as he was affectionally known by his family and friends, attended Manuel High School. He worked for several years as a supervisor of the maintenance department at Rockhurst College.

Joe-Joe was very loving, kindhearted, definitely a people person, with a great sense of humor.  He loved and enjoyed being around his family, listening to old school music, cracking jokes, being funny, laughing and making others laugh as well. Not to mention, he was one of the best two steppers in Kansas City. Joe-Joe was a huge Chiefs fan.

Joe-Joe recently accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, which kept him in high spirits as he battled his last months. Glory be to God, in his last words, “It is what it is”.

Joe-Joe finished his race on December 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Joe-Joe was loved by so many, especially his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his four brothers, Senior Pastor George W. Reese, Jr. (Pastor Mary), Robert (Maryann) Reese, Ronald Reese, and Steven (Joy) Reese; his only surviving sister, LuRue (Dan) Ashley; his fiancé, Rosie Lemonds-Singelton; his stepchildren; step-grandchildren; his two closest friends, Philip and Chucky; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
