Joseph Michael Rodriguez,61, passed away on October 13, 2021, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. He was born on March 6, 1960, in Kansas City, Mo to Anthony Aguiler and Helen DeMichelle. He grew up on the east side of Kansas City, Mo with Jose and Victoria Rodriguez, where he gained the name, “Taco”.
He attended East High School. In the late 80’s he started his career with the City of Kansas City Missouri. In 1992 he was promoted to General Supervisor. He retired after 28 years of service. After retirement he started working as a bus driver for the Salvation Army in Grandview, Mo.
Joseph loved to fish. He and his daughter would go on many late-night fishing trips with his friend, Jim Bob. Joseph also loved the Kansas City Chiefs. Win or lose he was a diehard Chiefs fan. He was extremely happy when they won the Superbowl in 2020. He enjoyed spending time and making memories with his grandkids whether it was bringing them snacks home from work or just sitting in the house, they were truly the light of his life! In June of 2013 he married the love of his life, LaToya Rodriguez, and they were married for 8 years. In that time, he gained one loving niece, LaLa (Fav), she kept him on his toes. She would like to thank you for all that you did and keeping her on the right track, she loves you.
Also, two nephews, Fat Dad, and K-Dog. He taught them how to be young men and they thank you for that. He and his wife did lots of traveling with the most recent trip being to Vegas so that he could see his favorite singer, Santana. He always said he would see him before he left this earth and he made sure that dream came true! They even took all the kids on a trip to Wisconsin. The kids loved it so much until they talked about it for days! Joseph loved spending time with all his family and friends making memories. His favorite quote was, “It is what it is, don’t worry the big G got me.” He loved to watch television, with some of his favorite shows being remolding shows, Gold Rush, Deadly Catch, and anything with Clint Eastwood, and John Wayne. He will be missed by many and touched many lives.
He is preceded in his death by his grandparents, Jose and Victoria Rodriguez; his best friend of many years, Archibald; and his uncles, Jesse Rodriguez, Tony Guzman, Bobby Guzman, and Joey Guzman, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, LaToya Rodriguez; his mother, Helen DeMichelle; daughters, Victoria Rodriguez (Vic Vic), and Samantha Edmunds (Sam); a son, Christopher Edmunds (Chris); grandchildren, Da’Shaun Brown (Dada), Emily Groves (Emmy), Anthony Rodriguez (Lil Rod), Darriona Berry (Skinny Mini), Darrielle Berry (Monk Monk), and Khalil Miller (Lili); niece, Lawrences Doles (Fav), Jamilh Alexander, and Jaia Alexander; nephews Kyleem Wills (K-dog), Lorenzo Doles (Fat Dad), and Jeremy Alexander; great-nephew, Baby K; and a host of other relatives and friends that he loved very much.
