Josie Lee Davis

Josie Lee Davis, “De De”, my “Jo Jo”, 91, departed this life on February 11, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born on November 24, 1931, in Westpoint Mississippi to George Figous and Eliza Figous.

She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and attended R. T. Coles High School. She did not finish high school. She left to take of her sick mother and younger siblings.

She began working for Westin Crown Center as a Presser/Folder, where she worked for 30 years and retired in 2006. She was involved in Operation Breakthrough as a volunteer Grandma for 5 years.

She was married to Tyree Davis for 25 years which was later dissolved. To this union, two children were born: Tyree, and Sharon Davis.

Josie is preceded in death by her parents: George and Eliza; her son: Tyree Davis, Jr; her siblings: Mary Lou Strong, William Strong, Thomas Figous, and David Figous.

She is survived by her daughter: Sharon Davis, of the home; her siblings: Hattie Pompey of Kansas City, MO., Raymond Figgars of Columbia, GA; her grandchildren: Marshawn Roland (Quasiar Marcus), Tryee Davis, III (Cynthia), Cheyenne and Devin Banks, and Te’Onnia Davis; her great-grandchildren: Deontae’ Hicks, Marquez Hicks, Meyah Roland, Anihya Davis, and Tryvier Davis; special significant other: Issace Boyd, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
