JUANITA WILKES was born April 14, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri, the youngest of six children born to the union of James ane Sadie Hill. She was preceded in death by both parents, one son John Anthony Wilkes (Tony); one daugher Faye Marie Walker; two brothers Raymond Sr. and Elder James Hill; and three sisters, Francis Hill, Missionary Patricia Paschal and Supervisor Mary Ellen Cooper.

Juanita received her education through the Kansas City Public Schools attending R.T Coles and Lincoln High School.

In 1948, at the age of 13 Juanita accepted Christ and placed her membership with The Evangelist Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop S.R. Chambers where she was blessed to travel as a part of his evanglistic team. She was also a member of the Radio, Gospel and Mass Choirs where she will always be remembered singing “ You Must Be Born Again” . As a result of her accepting Christ and sharing this good news, Juanita was significant in her entire family getting saved and uniting with the church.

On May 25, 1952 she was united in marriage to Elder John Wilkes and to this union eight children were born.

Juanita leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband of 65 years Elder John Wilkes; two daughters, Ava (Earl) Francis. Overland Park, Kansas and Mary Lee Wilkes, Kansas City, Kansas; four sons, Stanley (Bobbi), Kansas City, Kansas, Andre (Debra), San Leandro, California; Dwayne Wilkes, Topeka, Kansas and Gerald Wilkes, Kansas City, Kansas; 15 grand children, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Jestine Hill, Crestview, Florida, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
