Karen V. Farmer

Karen V. Farmer was born on August 4, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of William Sr. and Bernell Farmer.

She was educated in the Kansas City Mo Public School District and graduated from Central High School in 1971. She went on to attended Northwest Missouri State University, in Maryville, Missouri graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education.

After accepting Christ at an early age, she became a member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church Youth Choir. One of her favorite songs to lead as a soloist was “We Come This Far By Faith.” Later, she joined Shefield Family Life Center.

Karen began her career as a teacher at Operation Breakthrough and later finished her career at Internal Revenue Services.

Karen held a special place in her heart for Central High School’s Class of 1971. Outside of assisting with planning for her class reunions she always made an effort to stay connected to her classmates.

She enjoyed being a Dance Mom, shopping outings with her cousins, playing spades and bid whist, and spending time with close family and friends. She was truly the life of the party.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents William Sr. and Bernell Farmer.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter Renita Shelton, sister Saundra Farmer, brother William Farmer Jr. (Tonya), the father of her daughter Darrick Shelton, nieces, nephews, a host of relatives, dear friends, and numerous bonus children throughout her community.
