Karmello C. Matlock, fondly known as "Mello," departed from this world on April 13, 2024, at CenterPoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri. Born on April 2, 2004, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the cherished son of Cory J. Matlock and Tiffianette D. Matthews.
Growing up in Lee's Summit and Blue Springs, Missouri, Mello embodied a quiet yet vibrant spirit. His words, when spoken, resonated deeply, echoing the essence of his personality. Just like his namesake candy bar, "Caramello," Mello was smooth and sweet, effortlessly bringing joy to those around him. Whether he was showcasing his dance moves, engaging in competitive rounds of Fortnite, or hitting the court for basketball like his idol Carmelo Anthony, Mello's zest for life was infectious.
Kind-hearted, always wearing a smile, and possessing a quick wit, Mello was a beacon of light for his family and friends. His generous spirit and unwavering support endeared him to all who knew him. His laughter, as hearty as his gentle heart, could brighten even the darkest of days. His playful banter with his father, Cory, was a testament to their close bond, each shared moment filled with laughter and love.
In 2022, Mello proudly graduated from Blue Springs High School before embarking on his journey in higher education at KCKCC in Kansas City, Kansas, where he pursued studies in Business Management. Throughout his life, Mello's smooth demeanor and undeniable talent left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
While his physical presence may have departed, Mello's spirit lives on in the hearts of his loved ones. He is reunited in peace with his great-grandmother Sarah Bennett Matthews, Uncles Robert "Bub" Matlock, Jarett Scott, and Darrell Jones.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted parents, Cory Matlock of Kansas City, Missouri, and Tiffany Hawkins (Maurice) of Blue Springs, Missouri, his siblings Sean Matlock, Korey Matlock, Kori B. Matlock, and Jordan Matlock, his grandparents Robert Lee Matlock and Johnnie Matlock, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
In the tapestry of life, Mello's presence was a vibrant thread, woven with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit remains eternally present, guiding us with his light and love. Rest peacefully, dear Mello, your legacy of kindness and joy will forever endure.
