Katherine Brown

Katherine Brown, 63, passed away on October 11, 2019 at Carmel Hills, in Independence, Missouri.  She was born on August 3, 1956 in Kilmicheal, Mississippi to Ishmel Winfrey, and Flora Ervin. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and attended Manual High School, where she received her high school diploma. Katherine furthered her education, and began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where she worked for various nursing homes in the Kansas City Metropolitan area for over 20 years.

Katherine was the life of the party.  She loved to entertain her family and friends. She also loved dancing, cooking, and playing cards.  But most of all, she enjoyed sitting in front of her television, watching her favorite soap operas.  She could tell you everything that was happening with anyone of the characters as if she was a part of the show.

She was preceded in death by: her grandparents, Willie and Mamie Ward; her uncle, James Ervin; and her aunt, Rosa Ervin.

She leaves to cherish her memories her father, Ishmel Winfrey; her mother, Flora Ervin; her daughter, Lakiska Sims (Kevin); her sister, Shirley Ervin; her uncle, Billy Ervin; her grandsons, Leroy, Marcus, Darriel, and Jaylin; her granddaughter, Xziya; her niece, Nafeesah; her nephew, Ronnie; and the Love of her life, Troy Boyd.
