Keilah Kahlil Taylor-McHenry, affectionately known as “Kay-Kay,” passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 48. She was born on January 13, 1977, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the union of John Bernard Taylor and Gayle Denise Taylor.
Kay-Kay was educated in the Kansas City School District, graduating from De La Salle in 1995.
From an early age, Kay-Kay showed determination and independence. She began working at McDonald's and later secured a career at UMB Bank before ultimately finding her professional home with the United States Postal Service, where she remained a dedicated employee until her passing.
Above all else, Kay-Kay's greatest pride and joy was her family. She built a beautiful legacy through her beloved children: Markez, Kaleeyah, Marquis, and MarkeV’aun - who in turn gifted her with the joy of becoming a grandmother to Kylie, Maliah, Markeise, Kamauri, Kdynn, Mi’Yoni, Mylan, and Mikayla.
On October 4, 2024, Kay-Kay married her soulmate, Michael McHenry, capturing his heart and sharing a bond so strong that everyone knew: NOBODY WAS GOING TO PLAY WITH HER ABOUT HIM, PERIOD!
Kay-Kay brought life to every room with her love for cooking, singing, dancing, and being with family, especially her Uncle Maurice and Aunt Margaret, who cared for her after losing her mom to the very end. Her energy, laughter, and fierce love will forever be missed.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gayle Taylor; grandparents Hazel Clark, Theodore Gardenhire, and Sarah Taylor; aunt Valonda Taylor; uncle Victor Taylor; and stepson Deion McHenry.
Kay-Kay’s memory will forever be cherished by her loving husband, Michael McHenry; her brother, John Taylor III; her children; grandchildren; stepchildren; nieces; nephew; cousins; aunts; uncles; and countless friends who were blessed to know her. She will truly be missed but never forgotten.
