Listen to Obituary

Kenneth Lee Marshall passed away in the early evening of Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in the presence of family members. He was born March 22, 1953 to Lettie Mae Robinson Marshall and the late Reuben Marshall. Also preceding Kenneth in death was his maternal grandmother, Fayrena Hervey, a brother, Ronnell Leon Marshall, two aunts, Helen Turner and Sylestine Barlow, cousins Alicestine Ray, Rev. Bobby Dan Evans and Felicia Pearl Brown as well as numerous other distant relatives and friends.

Kenneth had re-established a relationship with God. He made friendships and acquaintances with parishioners at Friendship Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Kenneth enjoyed attending church; he was actively involved in Sunday School Class #3, Senior Adults Ministry, Wonderful Wednesday Prayer and Bible Study and the Dan Sheepfold.

Kenneth was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School District, attending both Yeager Elementary School and the old Manual High School, located on Truman Road.

Kenneth worked as a laborer early in life for several small companies. He later became disabled following a serious accident where he remained comatose for two weeks. Kenny bounced back and led a normal life until having to manage several health problems in recent years. Dinky was gifted with tools in his hand; he often helped out with minor repairs.

Kenneth is survived by his mother, Ms. Lettie Mae Marshall of Kansas City, Missouri, a sister, Ms. Janice Norwood, Kansas City, Missouri, two brothers, Lonnell Leon Marshall, Kansas City, Missouri and James K. Williams, Grandview, Missouri, an aunt, Augustine Jackson, cousins, Willie Mae Powell, both of Kansas City, Missouri and Ricky D. Turner, Grandview, Missouri, and four nieces, Ashley Clifton (Aaron), Dallas, Texas, Kimberly Jones, Tennille Starr (Gary) and Tiffany Marshall, all of Kansas City, Missouri. A host of other relatives and friends are left to cherish lasting memories of Brother Kenneth Lee Marshall.

Kenneth was called “Mr. Kenny” and “Dinky” by friends and family who knew him well and loved him. “Dinky” loved to laugh and tell jokes – when he could not think of something funny to make you laugh, he would often say, “Well!” Kenny loved people and he enjoyed family gatherings.
