Kenton Markez Branch was born December 26, 1991 in Omaha, Nebraska. At the age of 1 ½ years he was moved to the Atlanta, GA area with his family, where he lived, learned and loved until the age of 21.
Kenton was a bright child, very inquisitive, who began having conversations in full sentences at 1 ½ years. He was full of life, laughter and joy, and his family, extended family and friends loved him very much.
Kenton was brought up in church and exposed to the power of God. He accepted Christ and was baptized as a young boy. Oftentimes when his stomach hurt he would ask his mother to rub his tummy and pray for him. All he knew was that he always felt better afterwards.
He was always very active and loved basketball, participating in many leagues.
We remember when he entered a 5th grade science contest and he made a volcano that was erupting. When it came time for them to announce the winner, we watched him put his suit jacket on and button it up in expectation……..sure enough, he won first place! He strutted up there beaming from ear to ear, chest poked out, and received his trophy! He was always a very confident person, and he knew exactly who he was!
Under the guidance of his parents, Kenton left high school and enrolled into a 5-month Military Youth Challenge Academy where he effortlessly obtained his G.E.D at the age of 16.
At 21, Kenton (CHAMP, KENO, KENT) as he was affectionately called, moved to his mother’s hometown of Kansas City, MO where he bonded with his family and met many more people who he shared his life with and loved.
In talking with friends and family, this is what they had to say about him:
He found his greatest joy in his 2 sons, Troyce and Ace. He was the happiest when he was with them
He always encouraged me and built me up……
He was a protector and awesome big brother to Khalind. He was the first one at Khalind’s side to wipe away any tears….
He loved spending time with his family…..he always wanted to make you laugh…..
He was very strong-willed and always made his point……a great debater……very independent….he liked to figure things out on his own…an alpha male….
He was respectful………”on certain days”…..
He was the life of the party, always smiling and happy. He had a big appetite. At family functions he always took home several plates of food……
He was not a morning person and you would see the other side of him if you woke him up too early….
He was protective of his family, he made you feel safe
He gave off good vibes, he was a positive, upbeat person……..but he had another side to him that made you want to run for the hills. You don’t want to be anywhere around him when that other side came out.
He was always able to make me laugh when I was soooo mad at him….he would make this funny face……
You couldn’t help but love him even if you didn’t want to…..
He loved music, he liked to talk about different rappers…
He had charisma……..He was a go-getter…..
He was amazing, like nobody I had ever met…….
He was confident in his own skin……He was his own person….He had his own great and unique style of dressing….
He always made you see the brighter side of things…..
He looked out for his friends and helped them if he could, he was loyal to the ones he loved….
If he wanted it and believed in it, he stood on it and got it….
This is who our beloved son Kenton is and was. And in the words of his brother, Khalind, who rarely speaks…….”KENTON IS IN HEAVEN”!!!
He transitioned from this earthly life into his eternal life with Christ Jesus on October 2, 2018.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Ronald & Sherri Branch (parents); Larry Pradia, Jr. (birth parent); Khalind Branch (brother); Troyce K’Von Branch and Ace Kayden Branch (sons); Gwen Gant (Clarence) and Carolyn A. Smith (grandparents); Kenneth L. Friday (godfather), and a host of relatives and friends.
