Listen to Obituary

Lamark Williams, also known as Mark, was born to Sadie Williams and Mark Mabery on March 31, 1989. He was the youngest of five siblings and the only son of Big Mark.

Their father-son bond was exceptionally strong, sharing a deep love for football. Although they were both die-hard Chargers fans at one point, Mark's father eventually switched allegiances to the Chiefs. However, Mark remained a dedicated Los Angeles Chargers fan until his last breath.

He grew up to be the hands-on father he had always envisioned being for his own sons. Mark attended various schools but completed his education at Lee's Summit North, where he formed lasting connections and friendships.

Two years after graduation, he met Myia McCant. They married on July 14, 2012, and shared three sons together.

Mark was a skilled blue-collar worker, holding several warehouse jobs and spending a few years as a tire technician for semi-trucks. He spent the last seven plus years at Aident, also known as Johnson Control, in Riverside, MO, where he assembled seats for Ford pickup trucks. He was an active union member, forming strong friendships and a brotherhood with many of his fellow workers.

When not hard at work, Mark cherished time with his family and loved ones. He enjoyed being around his parents, siblings, and friends, and often met up with his high school friends for basketball games. His three young sons would watch in amazement as he soared across the court, dunking with skill and grace.

Recognizing their early interest and talent in basketball, Mark dedicated himself to perfecting their skills from a young age. He spent their toddler and preschool years coaching them on a Fisher-Price goal, and as soon as they were old enough, he signed them up for youth basketball. Mark devoted his life to nurturing their talents, spending countless hours as a father, basketball coach, and personal trainer. By the ages of 14, 13, and 12, his sons had become well-known in the Kansas City metro area as some of the most talented youth basketball players. Mark extended his mentorship beyond his own children, coaching and training hundreds of kids in his community and surrounding areas. Affectionately known as Coach Mark, he was recognized and admired wherever he went. One of his dreams was to be acknowledged as one of Kansas City's top personal trainers, a goal that came true in May 2024 when he was nominated as a finalist for the Kansas City People's Choice Awards.

Mark's personality was truly one in a million. He had a smile that could brighten the darkest of days and always had words of encouragement for anyone in need. His infectious laugh is something none of us will ever forget. Mark was incredibly loving and caring. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time to bond with his beloved mother, ensuring her needs were met no matter the time of day.

Mark departed this life unexpectedly on June 27,2024.

He was proceeded in death his grandparents Naomi Williams, Jamesetta and Daniel Baldwin. Uncle Fred Meyers, Aunit Loretta Williams, Cousin Darius Bullock, and Nephew Bj Henderson.

He leaves behind a legacy to be continued by the mother of his children, Myia Williams, and their three sons, Marschaun, Mariyon, and Mylan, affectionately known as Bam. He is also survived by his siblings Monica and Brian Henderson, Jenetta and Joshua Payne, Akila Maberry, Keia Burks, Michael Williams, and his bonus brother and best friend, Caleb Gunn. A host of many more nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
